Pecan Mission Desk
This desk was one of the unfinished pieces that was in my shop when it was struck by a tornado. After that I referred to it as the "Tornado Desk". When I arrived after the storm, I found the roof torn open and it appeared as though a giant spoon had stirred up the shop. Or maybe a blender was used. It was a mess! Everything was still there with the exception of two parts to the top shelves that had not been assembled. I completed the desk when I was able to move to my new shop.
This desk is built in a New Mexico Mission style. It has very simple and straight forward lines and a very utilitarian presence. The primary wood is Pecan with a very striking and beautiful grain pattern. Oak is also used in the legs, with Cypress and Poplar used in the drawer construction. The drawer bottom is a solid beveled panel. The piece is finished with a hand rubbed oil finish
